The YCM fleet, ambassador of maritime heritage

The joint presence of **TUIGA (1909)** and **VIOLA (1908)** on the East Coast of the United States marks the formation of a true fleet of classic yachts united by the same momentum. These two gaff cutters, from the golden age of yachting, embody a shared vision: that of a living maritime heritage, which continues to sail and to be passed on through practice. Their journey is not limited to a single event, but forms part of a broader effort to promote classic yachting internationally.

Tuiga (1909), flagship of the YCM

Designed by naval architect William Fife III, TUIGA (1909) is an iconic classic yacht of the 15-Metre Class. A true symbol of classic yachting, she embodies the elegance, performance and maritime craftsmanship of the early 20th century. Since her acquisition by the Yacht Club de Monaco in 1995, she has served as its flagship and as a major ambassador for nautical heritage. Still sailing today, TUIGA reflects the commitment to preserving a living maritime heritage, passed on through practice and racing.

Viola (1908), cotre aurique classé monument historique

Alongside TUIGA, VIOLA (1908) is also a benchmark in classic yachting and the tradition of gaff cutters. Listed as a historic monument, this yacht bears witness to the excellence of early 20th-century naval construction. Owned by Kostia Belkin, a member of the Yacht Club de Monaco, she actively contributes to the preservation of maritime heritage. Still sailing today, VIOLA embodies a living heritage, rooted in transmission, navigation and the promotion of nautical craftsmanship.
