Rigging and sail plan

TUIGA is a classic yacht rigged as a gaff cutter, typical of the great yachts built under the International Rule. The mast, boom and spars are made of wood, in keeping with her original construction. The rig is designed to carry a generous sail plan, with a height of 23.00 m (I) and a base of 12.70 m (J). The mainsail is based on a height of 11.55 m (P) and a boom of 16.96 m (E), ensuring good balance under sail. The total sail area reaches 420.305 m², including a mainsail of 218.046 m² and a foretriangle of up to 233.680 m². The use of a spinnaker allows performance to be optimised on downwind points of sail.

Dimensions and yacht architecture

With an overall length of 27.36 m, TUIGA stands out as a large classic yacht of the Big Boat type. Her technical specifications reflect remarkable balance: her 4.15 m beam ensures good stability, while her 2.8 m draught supports performance at sea. Her rated length is 17.180 m, with an average depth of 1.037 m and a rated depth of 2.925 m, revealing a well-balanced hull. The rated beam of 4.129 m confirms a design that is both slender and powerful, perfectly suited to racing.

Equipment, propulsion and performance

TUIGA retains a simple configuration focused on performance. Her centreboard is movable, with a modified system incorporating a bulb and ballast to improve stability, while the rudder has also been modified to optimise course-keeping. The propeller is of the folding or feathering type, used mainly for manoeuvring, with propulsion relying above all on sail power. The interior is deliberately stripped back, with no accommodation, in order to prioritise lightness. In terms of performance, TUIGA has a rating of 10.712, an APM of 106.1 s/mile and a TCF of 1.0225, values that confirm her potential in classic racing.
